The podcast that discusses all things vampiric continues the interesting irregular series, 'Cainite Conversations', where The Lore By Night Podcast Guy brings in a member of the TTRPG community and talks about all things TTRPG and everything else in between.
In this episode, The Lore By Night Podcast Guy invites Matthew Dawkins, a self-proclaimed "Gentleman Gamer, into his domain. Matthew is a two-time award-winning author who is most known for his work for the World of Darkness TTRPGs (Vampire: The Masquerade, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Mage: The Ascension, Wraith: The Oblivion & Changeling: The Dreaming), the Chronicles of Darkness games, and his online YouTube persona "The Gentleman Gamer". He is also a lead developer for Onyx Path Publishing whose work on the "They Came From!" comedy-horror franchise has garnered much praise amongst TTRPG fans. Matthew has also worked on the likes of KULT: Divinity Lost, Solemn Vale, and Pugmire.
Together, they discuss his latest project, The World Below, a grimdark TTRPG whose themes are focused on subterranean fantasy, exploration and discovery, survival and horror, being developed and published by Onyx Path Publishing. We learn about the sort of people that occupy The World Below, the strange denizens that pose a threat to their lives, the hostile and dangerous magic systems players can wield, in addition to the new gaming system, the Storypath Ultra system and how it differs from previous Onyx Path gaming systems.
Additionally, our two World of Darkness lore nerds discuss heavily the themes and joys of Wraith: The Oblivion, the cultural identity of Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Matthew's process of writing for horror games, and why you shouldn't trust the local Conservative representative.
