Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh elections, trouble is mounting for AKhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh. The Supreme Court is set to hear a PIL seeking a direction to the Election Commission of India to deregister political parties that do not disclose details pertaining to criminal cases of their election candidates along with the reason for their selection. This comes after Samajwadi Party fielded criminal Nahid Hasan as its Kairana Assembly Seat candidate. He was arrested on January 15, just a day after he filed his nomination papers. As per reports, Akhilesh's party then replaced Nahid with his sister Iqra Hasan as SP's Kairana candidate. Political war of words has erupted over the issue now. Watch for more details.
