With a grant from the Hoover Institution. Alexander Harrison has spent two years as a "periodista investigativo" and historian, interviewing survivors of the Dirty War: "ex-suboficiales" who took part in the mass genocide of civilians during the Dictatorship, many of them constituting the hard core from the Escuela Mecanica (ESMA), as :well as "familiares," family members of the disappeared. Dr, Harrison has also consulted the archives at CONADEP(Argentine National Commission on the Disappeared), and reached out to homeless soldiers, former "soldados conscriptos," veterans of the Falklands War, and living in the "Encampamento" in the Plaza de Mayo, awaiting recognition and veterans benefits from a succession of governments dating back to the 1980's. His research is ongoing.
