Despite facing 18 rejections from the great mantra sadhak Thirukottiur Nambi , Ramanuja remained determined and persistent, continuing to knock on the door. His sincerity and determination finally melted Nambi ’s heart. He gave sacred eight syllabled mantra with its mystical meanings to Ramanuja.

"This sacred mantra must be kept confidential as it holds the power to alleviate all sufferings and guide the soul to Vaikuntha. It should only be shared with the right person after careful consideration. Disobeying this will lead to eternal hell."
Filled with joy, Ramanujacharya continuously recited the mystical mantra on his way home. Witnessing the struggles of people in the material world on his way, his heart overflowed with compassion. Without hesitation, he ascended near a Vishnu temple and summoned the crowd. "Gather around the temple. I have a priceless gift for you." A large crowd quickly assembled.
"Repeat after me three times," he instructed the people. "Om Namo Narayanaya, Om Namo Narayanaya, Om Namo Narayanaya!" The sacred mantra echoed throughout the entire area, offering solace.
Furious, Nambi cursed Ramanujacharya, accusing him of committing a grave sin by reveling the Ashtakshari mantra to the people. He labeled Ramanujacharya a traitor and will burn in eternal h.
In response, Ramanuja humbly stated, "Acharya!, I know that I will go to hell for not following your command. However, if thousands can benefit from chanting this mantra, I am willing to accept any consequences."
Moved by his selflessness, Nambi embraced Ramanuja, praised his selflessness, and bestowed his blessings.
