The Modi government has officially lifted the decades-old ban on government employees associating with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The ban, in place since 1966, was removed as announced by the Department of Personnel and Training. Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh criticized the timing of the decision, while BJP IT department head Amit Malviya welcomed the move, calling the original ban unconstitutional. Government employees are now allowed to participate in RSS activities.
