Workers' compensation covers work-related injuries and deaths. If an individual dies as a result of a work-related accident or injury, benefits are available to certain individuals who were dependent on the deceased individual. Also, the workers' compensation insurance company should pay money toward the funeral costs. There are limits under Georgia law on the amounts and length of time that the insurance company has to pay benefits. Georgia workers' compensation attorney Jason Perkins discusses who should receive dependency benefits and some of the limits on those benefits in this episode of the Georgia Workers' Compensation Video Series.
