(13 Dec 2016) A candlelight ceremony was held on Tuesday in memory of those who died during the Nanking massacre in 1937.
It was the final event in a day of commemoration for the 79th anniversary of the atrocities committed in the city that is now called Nanjing.
Estimates of those killed by occupying Japanese forces in 1937 range from 40,000 to the official Chinese figure of 300,000.
