On Saturday 20th August 2016, Transport Heritage NSW and the Lachlan Valley Railway hosted what was, in my opinon, the tour of the year! The 'Northern Steam Spectacular' was a tour that ran from Central Station to Hawkesbury River to Gosford to Central Station.
Steam Locomotive 3642 (THNSW) and Steam Locomotive 5917 (LVR) took part in this amazing tour. The two locomotives took part in a Parrallel Run from Central to Thornleigh. After that, 3642 went to Gosford and 5917 went to Hawkesbury River. The two locomotives crossed paths as 3642 went back to Hawkesbury River and 5917 travelled to Gosford. The two locomotives met up just before Strathfield as they took part in the Parallel Run once again to Central Station.
We were on board 5917's Train, so we were able to view 3642 as the two locomotives ran side by side.
Here is Part 2 of the footage, which shows footage of 5917 hauling the train to Gosford and Hawkesbury River.
ENJOY!
