In my household, we always have vegetables as one of the dishes during a meal. As I was brought up to always have a bigger portion of vegetables compared to meat dishes, hence, I continued with the same practice when I moved to Germany. I always cook at least two dishes for each meal. One of it would definitely be a plate of simple stir fried vegetables.
Cooking two dishes can be quite tiresome especially after a long day at work. I honestly just want to enjoy my meal as soon as possible. When vegetables and the ingredients are fresh, there's not much to do to bring out the taste of a dish. However, when settling for a vegetable dish, I really do think that a simple stir fry recipe would bring out the best taste of the selected vegetables.
This recipe video is a little more special than the others as I cooked using the sweet potatoes leaves that I planted. It was awesome knowing that I ate the vegetables I painstakingly planted and that no nasty pesticides were used. If you have not tried planting vegetables, I would highly recommend that you do so. It gives this immense satisfaction and pride that cannot be described!
To muslim viewers, you may omit the 'shaoxing' wine from this dish. In this recipe, I used soy sauce as the main source of taste but there are times when I will opt for oyster sauce or mushroom sauce. Take your pick. Do not forget to heat your wok well and you will be able to dish up a plate of vegetables in no time. If you do choose vegetables such as broccoli or cauliflower, give them a bit more time to soften. Remember not to overcook the vegetables or the vitamins will be lost.
