One third of India practices open-defecation (OD) and rates are even higher in rural areas. In their own words, people in rural villages share their experiences before and after experiencing Community-Led Total Sanitation, an innovative methodology for mobilizing communities to completely eliminate open defecation.
In short: More toilets + creating the desire for people to use them = Improved sanitation.
Improved sanitation includes: More dignity. Greater safety. Less disease. Better health and nutrition.
