This video is the method I use to spray a 3 stage pearl in Axalta's Cromax Pro Waterborne paint system.
I will mainly be focusing on application.
Stage 1:
Activated 2091 basecoat blender on the areas the ground coat is to be blended then 2 coats of the white ground coat, ensure this is activated and blend into the 2091, no flash time is required between the 2 coats of white, adding 5% TN800W (Water) to the white basecoat will make it spray a bit nicer but make sure it's fully covered then bake at 60-70c for 15 minutes.
Stage 2:
Now we have to apply the pearl, this time 2 coats of pearl got the desired colour, using 2093 slow basecoat blender because we have created a hot environment from the bake and panel temp is up apply over blend areas again as in stage 1 then spray a wet coat of the pearl ensuring you go over the ground coat, allow to dry, this can be sped up with air blowers then 2093 and pearl again but this time I will do the 1.5 coat application commonly used in the Cromax Pro system.
Stage 3:
Clear coat, I recommend using a top quality VOC or HS clear, this will help reduce any die back which can happen on 3 layer jobs because of the extra material pulling the life out of the clear, if this does happen a good buff will remove it 99% of the time. I am using Cromax 3760S HI Temp Low VOC Clear in my beautiful blue DeVilbiss Gti Pro lite 1.3mm TE20.
