In August 2011 when I was in Year 10, after spending much of the year doing testing and getting authorisations from CASA, our aviation authority, I released my weather balloon at Mildura's Bureau of Meteorology. Mildura is a country town well away from the major aviation routes on the northern border of Victoria in Australia. I enlisted my whole family including my granny to do the countdown! It was very nerve-wracking but all my planning paid off and we had a trouble free launch.
