STORYLINE:
It has been three weeks since 27-year old Nikolay Soltys, a Ukranian immigrant to the United States, allegedly slashed his pregnant wife's throat, then killed his aunt and uncle and their two 9-year-old grandchildren before fleeing with his son, who was found dead in a cardboard box a day later.
The murders took place in Sacramento, California.
Today Lyubov Soltys and her son were buried in their native town of Shumsk, Western Ukraine.
Hundreds of people attended the funeral.
Soltys himself was arrested after a 10-day nationwide manhunt and has been charged with seven counts of murder, including one for his unborn child.
On Saturday, the bodies of his wife, Luybov and son, Sergei were returned to their native town of Shumsk for burial in the family cemetry on Sunday.
Nikolay Soltys faces the death penalty if found guilty on any of the seven counts, but Sacramento County District Attorney Jan Scully said that she had not yet decided whether to seek the death penalty.
