This video shows how i replaced the alternator on a Mazda Speed Miata NB (should be similar process for Mazda Miata NA but easier) for a higher output alternator , 100A. Note that the Miata NB has both voltage regulator internally on the alternator AND on the ecu. I have megasquirt 3.
I paid 60$ CAD for this used alternator. Its a Mitsubishi one, big chances its a OEM one.
