Social entrepreneur's 88 yrs of creativity. The guest for this episode is Ann Medlock.
Ann Medlock got into trouble for taking over her kindergarten class to tell stories, which should have given clues about her future. It didn’t.
Her future includes stories, novels, articles, poems, OpEds, speeches, curricula, & profiles of over 1000 heroes honored by her nonprofit: Giraffe Heroes Project—honoring people who stick their necks out for the common good.
Nearly 88, Ann’s “legacy” storytelling from a lifetime of creativity. Two books in the works. Bread Crumbs, her wisdom on living a creative & meaningful life. She talks about what she’s learned, including that The Golden Rule needs an upgrade.
The other book is Building with Christopher Alexander, An Illustrated Memoir, an account of the 5 years she worked with a creative master to build her Pattern Language house.
We discuss her influences, from Aurelius to Alexander, and what she’s learned about being fully alive, always making up her next move in what continues to be a constantly improvised, creative life.
