Akbaruddin Owasi, the brother of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) Chief and former UPA ally Asaduddin Owaisi, has received the highest degree of condemnation for an extremely inflammatory speech made on Dec 24 in a rally in Adilabad in Andhra Pradesh. A magistrate court has accepted a petition against Owaisi for his hate speech and will hear the case on Thursday (January 3). A practising advocate Kashimshetty Karunasagar, who filed the complaint in the VII Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court on Wednesday (January 2), sought for registration of a case against Akbaruddin under Section 295A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings or any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion) and other relevant sections of the IPC. The Andhra Pradesh Human Rights Commission has directed the Hyderabad Police Commissioner to enquire into the matter and submit a report by January 17. Meanwhile, the BJP has also asked the Congress-led Government in the state to book the MIM leader.
