The St. Louis County Domestic Violence Court was founded in 2009 by former Judge Michael Burton and a council of local stakeholders. Over the course of eleven years the court not only grew to meet the needs of the community but implemented best-practice standards and innovative procedures. As a result, in 2020, the St. Louis County Domestic Violence Court was selected as one of four Mentor Courts in the country by the Office on Violence against Women, Department of Justice.
