Girona is a city in northern Catalonia, Spain. Girona is the capital of the province of the same name and also capital of the comarca of the Gironès and the vegueria of Girona. Since much of the old quarter of this ancient city has been preserved, Girona is a popular destination for tourists, and film productions have used it as a filming location (e.g. Game of Thrones). The city is located 99 km (62 mi) northeast of Barcelona.

The monumental stairway of the cathedral of Girona was used for a scene in King’s Landing. In the Game of Thrones series these stairs were used as the exterior for the Great Sept of Baelor in King's Landing, where Jaime Lannister has a showdown with the High Sparrow to avoid Margaery Tyrell‘s walk of shame.
In the eight episode of season 6, Arya Stark flees from a girl trying to kill her, and enters the Arab baths, in a scene shot in Pujada de Sant Domonèc, featured in this Girona walking tour, timestamped above and below.
There are also scenes in the Sobreportes Gate and the street that goes down, Pujada del Rei Martí. The monumental scenario of Girona was indeed perfect for the Game of Thrones HBO series.
