Nothing can quite match the bond between cats, dogs and their humans. Devapriya Roy’s Cat People is a charming feline anthology - the lives and obsessions of cats and cat-lovers. Hemali Sodhi’s edited anthology The Book Of Dog celebrates canines through the poignant stories of those they have known and loved. In conversation with Arunava Sinha, they discuss the relationship between humans and keepers of our hearts.

Devapriya Roy is the author of three best-selling novels - The Vague Woman's Handbook, The Weight Loss Club and Friends from College. In 2015, she published The Heat and Dust Project, co-written with Saurav Jha, which debuted at no. 1 on the Hindustan Times AC Nielsen list. Roy published Indira in 2018, a unique graphic biography of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, in collaboration with Priya Kuriyan. She is currently translating Tagore’s Gora into English.

Hemali Sodhi is the founder of A Suitable Agency, which represents writers and advises on corporate communications and brand strategy. She has over two decades of experience in publishing, communications and brand strategy. Sodhi is the editor of The Book of Dog, a tribute to our canine companions, and lives in Gurgaon with her husband, and three of the best dogs on the planet.

Arunava Sinha translates classic, modern and contemporary Bengali fiction, non-fiction and poetry into English, and fiction from English into Bengali. Over sixty-five of his translations have been published so far, including Akhtaruzzaman Elias's Khwabnama into English, and Amitav Ghosh's Gun Island into Bengali. He teaches at Ashoka University and is the Books Editor at Scroll.in.
