EPFO, the retirement fund organization, unveiled a WhatsApp helpline service for a swift resolution of its subscribers’ grievances, the department of labour ministry announced on Tuesday. In addition to many other sources of settling disputes of EPFO platforms, this facility includes the EPFiGMS site, CPGRAMS, social media channels and a specialized 24×7 help desk. “The Employees ‘ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has now introduced a WhatsApp-based helpline-cum-grievance resolution platform, under its set of Nirbadh steps designed to ensure smooth and continuous service delivery to subscribers to further boost the simplicity of living environment for its participants,” the ministry said in a release.
With WhatsApp developing in India as a major networking channel, EPFO has grasped the incredible platform provided by the app to meet and interact effectively with all its holders. This proposal will enable PF subscribers to communicate directly with the regional offices of EPFO at a tailored tier, complying to the concept of one-to-one instruction. The WhatsApp helpline is also available in all of EPFO’s 138 regional offices. By placing a WhatsApp message on the helpline number of the local regional office where the PF account is managed, any employee can merely file a complaint or request clarification on any questions related to services rendered by EPFO.
Specialized WhatsApp helpline numbers for all branch offices are available to access on EPFO website’s homepage. By bringing EPFO’s digital projects to the last frontier, the helpline strives to make members self-reliant, hence reducing dependency on counterparties. Each regional office has been fitted with a designated panel of professionals to maintain the accelerated resolution of the grievance and answer to the queries posted on WhatsApp. The simplicity of raising WhatsApp queries and complaints will dramatically decrease the need for subscribers to visit EPFO’s office physically. This in essence will assist to preserve social distancing during the pandemic in the workplace of EPFO. The helpline has achieved an enormous reputation among investors already.
Since then, through WhatsApp, EPFO has rectified more than 1,64,040 complaints and questions. This culminated in a 30 per cent drop in the posting of grievances / questions on Facebook / Twitter and 16 per cent on EPFiGMS (EPFO’s online grievance resolution gateway). This help desk is an effort to further improve the direct contact link between EPFO and its subscribers in the middle of the pandemic, thereby strengthening the accessibility of EPFO and promoting the prompt flow of helpline services to the subscribers.
