Soon after the Supreme Court on May 18 stayed order of the West Bengal government banning the screening of the controversial film ‘The Kerala Story’ in state, Discussion over the screening of the movie has begun as theatre owners fear vandalism incidents. Meanwhile, the director Sudipto Sen, and the producer of the movie, Vipul Shah, welcomed the verdict of the Apex court. After the ban was lifted, the filmmakers also urged CM Mamata Banerjee to watch the movie. Meanwhile, soon after SC’s verdict, WB Minister Shashi Panja came to CM Mamata’s defence and said "screening was imposed to apprehend tensions among communities". However, the main question arises: will the theatre owner screen the movie amid fear of vandalism. Rahul Lahri, deputy manager of a movie theatre, expressed his fear and urged the government to provide security to avoid any mishap. Directed by Sudipto Sen, the Adah Sharma-starrer ‘The Kerala Story’ is making history day by day despite controversies. 'The Kerala Story’ has already clinched a spot in the 150 crore club as the film has collected a whopping 165 crore.
