More distressing elements are emerging from the U.S. Senate report on the CIA′s use of brutal interrogation techniques on terror detainees post-9/11.
According to the Associated Press, the agency′s health professionals were deeply involved in the abusive tactics used,... which ranged from waterboarding, rectal feeding and sleep deprivation.
The report notes that front-line medics and psychologists monitored activities at so-called "black sites" and often objected to what they saw.
Some critics have expressed their dismay that the report offered no proposals that would preclude health professionals from taking part in abusive interrogations.
Earlier this week, the current chief of the CIA rejected the report′s claims that the "enhanced" interrogation tactics were ineffective.
John Brennan said valuable information was acquired after the agency used them.
