Low-tech process based restoration is a restoration technique where inexpensive and readily available materials (such as logs, sticks, willows, sod plugs, etc.) are used to mimic natural water flows. These techniques allow the water to re-shape the streambed or land. In this example, a landowner in Gunnison County, Colorado used these techniques to improve stream sinuosity and reconnect the water to the original floodplain, which also improves fish habitat and late summer in-stream flows. Even a beaver took over a beaver dam analogue as their own, making the restoration efforts even more successful at improving stream complexity!
