North Country Matters host, Donna Seymour, talks about the gender pay gap. The pay gap persists because the traditional work available to many women, caregiving in particular, is severely undervalued. Care giving positions, critical for the strength of the overall economy, should provide a living wage and the opportunity to save for retirement. Without fair pay, these workers all too often end up on the Medicaid system. This is a vicious, failing economic cycle we must break.
