Video clips from just outside the town of Orangeburg and North, South Carolina following in a localized extreme flash flooding event brought on due to over 14 inches of rain in less than 24 hours. Throughout Orangeburg County there are currently 177 road closures, and that number continues to climb. Also there are over ten bridges that have been swept away or destroyed along with 10 or more pond dams that have been completely breached with failures resulting in roads being completely washed away.
As of 4:30 PM today there are still water rescues ongoing in the city of Orangeburg proper especially around the US 301 corridor near the Walmart neighborhood market.
The bridge and homes inundated is located on shillings bridge road at the North Fork of the Edisto River. The eclipse of the highway that has been washed away or from US 178 just outside of the town of North. This is very close to the bull swamp Baptist Church.
