Overwhelming response to the Mega Medical Camp organized in Sharjah
ASTER, in association with KMCC, The General Secretariat of Awqaf, Govt. of Sharjah, conducted the highly-successful Health Awareness Education and Free Medical checkup
More than 800 people attended the camp to avail free medical checkup.
Dubai, April 30, 2013: ASTER, part of DM Healthcare, the leading healthcare conglomerate in the Middle East and India, witnessed a highly-successful response by the public with more than 817 numbers of people attending to avail the free medical services offered. The medical camp was organized in association with The General Secretariat of Awqaf, Govt. of Sharjah, and the Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC).
The one-day camp, was held at the King Faisal Mosque in Sharjah on Monday the 29th April 2013.
The camp was inaugurated by H.E. Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Department of Islamic Affairs, in the presence of H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saqr Al Qassimi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Director of Sharjah Medical District, H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Muhammed Al Qassimi, General Authority of Islamic Affairs & Endowments and Dr. Amina Hashim, Director of Health Education MPH-PHD, Community Heatlh from Ministry of Health (MoH) and Dr. Hanan Ali Mubarak Obaid, Head of Community Health Services Programs Section Health Affairs Department Primary Health Care from Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
Free medical check-ups including Blood Pressure, Sugar, BMI and Smoke Cessation were offered to participants along with free consultations. A large panel of doctors including General Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Dermatology, Dental and General Practitioner from the ASTER Medical Centres in Sharjah and Ajman branches of DM Healthcare attended the medical camp to offer free consultations to the people. Malabar Gold & Diamonds the leading jewellery retail chain in the Middle East and India a CSR partner of DM Healthcare also provided free medication to a good number of people attending the health camp.
Speaking at the camp, Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Department of Islamic Affairs said that "The objectives of this campaign are in line with our general strategy to enhance the alliance between the private and public sectors and connect with other institutions in order to provide seamless quality healthcare services to the society, besides encouraging volunteer service and community activities among the people. He added that it is important to enhance the volunteer education which would also help in creating increased awareness on health issues in the society."
The campaign was carried out through Dr. Aster Mobile, a CSR initiative of DM Healthcare in partnership with Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) and Road and Transport Authority (RTA), supported by the MoH (Ministry of Health). Dr. ASTER Mobile aimed at reaching out to society with awareness on health issues along with its public safety awareness campaigns titled 'Safety Tips for Road Accident Prevention (STRAP) campaign, the Be Empathetic Act Timely (BEAT) campaign and STUB IT campaign.
Commenting on medical camp, Dr. PMM Syed, Group Medical Director, ASTER Medical Centres, division of DM Healthcare said "We are very pleased with the turnout at the camp. The main aim of the initiative is to reach out to the people and create widespread awareness on preventive healthcare. It is important to stress on the significance of preventive healthcare. Regular check-ups ensure that any illness is curbed in time to prevent a fatality and a healthy lifestyle keeps many diseases at bay. The vast turn out has both assured us of the success of the camp as well as given us further impetus to continue conducting such medical camps. We are thankful for the support of the Government authorities and volunteering associations in this initiative. Their involvement has ensured that the message of preventive health was conveyed to a larger number of people."
Commenting on the camp, Hashim P.K., President, KMCC Sharjah said "The KMCC team is very happy and delighted, in spite of being a working day there has been huge turnaround of people to attend the medical camp and this has encouraged them to conduct many more such camps in association with ASTER Medical Centre for the benefit of the Sharjah residents."
