The US is closely watching China's growing influence around the world; from the economy, to national security and even religious freedom. Congressman Mike Gallagher, who leads a panel aimed at countering China's impact, hosted an interfaith group of religious leaders looking deeper into the persecution of all faiths. The Wisconsin Congressman says for far too long, the US has turned a blind eye to the increasing aggression of the Chinese Communist Party and that includes persecution of Catholics and other Christians. Some of those who spoke today were imprisoned by the regime simply because of their belief in God and refusal to recognize the views of the Communist government. Pan Yongguang, Pastor of Mayflower Church in Texas says "We are not heroes. The heroes have not returned. Our friends remain in prison for their faith and belief in God. The real heroes are still in CCP prison." The pastor of the Mayflower Church, who led more than 60 Chinese Christians out of Beijing to religious freedom in America joined Congressman Chris Smith who helped in their release, along with Congressman Nathaniel Moran from West Texas where Mayflower Church is now flourishing. Capitol Hill Correspondent, Erik Rosales reports.
