Rick Barrett presents "A Wee Bit of Alchemy". Some helpful tips for getting the most from Taijiquan, Qigong, and meditation.
Intention and Will (Zhi)
00:00- 11:45 Intention is a decision to do something or to change conditions. Intentions may be conscious or pre-conscious. Pre-conscious intentions are old decisions that we hang onto. They established behaviors or habits that were considered useful at some point, even if they aren't now.
Will executes an intention. It makes something happen and persist. Called Zhi in Taoist philosophy, it is an expression of Kidney Jing and is essential to Body-Mind-Spirit integration.
Intention and Will must be trained to be effective. They must be clarified to ensure to that we are doing what we want. Gongfu is a perfect training ground to bring Intention and Will into each movement.
12:08- 38:37 Medtitation: Intention and Will in Practice. We use the first few movements of the Wudang Mountain Tai Yi Wuxingquan to focus on the conscious Intention and Will.
