Jonathan Mandle is a Professor of Philosophy and former Philosophy Department Chair at the University at Albany, The State University of New York. His primary interests are in political philosophy and ethics and their history. He is also a member of the Crooked Timber group blog and the brother of NBA player Adonal Foyle. He was invited by the Copernicus Center for Interdisciplinary Studies to deliver a lecture series. In the first lecture he brings out the similarity between John Dewey and John Rawls concerning their responds to skepticism about the possibility of objective values and reasoning about values and concludes that modern scientific worldview and values can be compatible.
