The video is the edited footages of the trial of General Tomoyuki Yamashita before the U.S. Military Commission in Manila. Gen. Yamashita was found guilty for the atrocities committed by the troops under his command. He was sentenced to death by hanging. The ruling against Yamashita – holding the commander responsible for subordinates' war crimes as long as the commander did not attempt to discover and stop them from occurring – came to be known as the principle of Command Responsibility or the Yamashita standard.
