The 2000 murder of Mike Williams was solved, in 2017, when the killer, Mike's best friend Brian Winchester, confessed to the crime and led investigators to the location where he hid Mike's body.

The case likely would still remain unsolved if Denise Williams had not gone to the cops to report that her estranged husband, Brian Winchester, kidnapped her. Brian was charged, and later agreed to testify against his wife and reveal their conspiracy to kill his best friend, and his wife's husband (at the time of the murder), Mike Williams.

Brian and Denise were suspects for years. Law enforcement questioned Denise about the kidnapping - and also used the opportunity to subtly interrogate her about Brian's involvement in the murder of Mike Williams.
