Im Nordosten von Castrop-Rauxel liegt der Ortsteil Ickern. Unweit der Autobahn 2 steht die Kirche St. Antonius von Padua. Der gewaltige Turmbau im Westen ist gut von der Autobahn sichtbar. Die Gemeinde wurde 1918 gegründet und die Kirche 1922-25 erbaut. Die Kirche ist der einzige Kirchenbau des Industriebaumeisters Alfred Fischer. Die Kirche erhielt nur einen provisorischen Altar und wurde erst 1941 endgültig geweiht. Die Kirche wurde als Parabelkirche gebaut und gehört seit 2015 zur Gemeinde Corpus Christi mit St. Barbara Ickern, Herz Jesu in Rauxel und St. Josef in Habinghorst.
Der imposante Turmbau beherbergt das tontiefste Geläut der Stadt Castrop-Rauxel. Die vier Gussstahlglocken wurden 1925 beim Bochumer Verein gegossen und erklingen im Salve-Regina-Motiv a°-cis‘-e‘-fis, wobei der Tonschritt zwischen cis‘ und e‘ für meinen Geschmack nicht so gut getroffen ist und es ein wenig nach d‘-e‘ klingt. Dennoch ein sehr wuchtiges Geläut, bedingt durch die Totenglocke a°.
Es erklingt das volle Geläut zur Abendmesse am Christkönigssonntag 2019. An den gewöhnlichen Sonntagen läuten die Glocken II-IV.
