I get asked about how to treat shell rot, I know there are some help sheets out there but I thought a video could make things a little clearer. I happen to have an adult female diamondback terrapin who had shell rot prior to coming to me and I'm treating her at the moment.
1. Take out of the water and dry off in a tub with a clean towel in.
2. Disinfect the affected area with an iodine solution 7.5%.
3. Dab dry and then apply a silver based antiseptic cream (Flamazine or similar).
4. Leave out of the water for 30 to 40 minutes.
5. At the start of the treatment, repeat this twice a day.
6. As recovery commences you can reduce the frequency of the treatment.
