2022 the year known as the Water Tiger - was a snowy and cooler day, compared to the warmer weather in previous lion dance parade events. Snowy conditions were quite similar to the 2017 Rooster year. Lions from many troupes gathered and braved the elements, and marched in a parade towards the stage with performance before going into the streets of Chinatown business shops and restaurants involving red envelopes & lettuce plus oranges given to the lions. Just a reminder, this channel was first established in doing great Chinese New Year videos - therefore really giving some love to the Tiger year was presented here. The tiger represents a very active animal and symbolizes courage & strength - plus being a major yang symbol of high energy according to Chinese culture and was important to capture the feel of that. Releasing this video is also fitting for the year of the cat for those growing up in the Vietnamese culture because the Tiger is considered as a big cat as part of the feline family of species (well sort of). Opening event includes performances from the Boston Chinese Freemasons (Gung Ho Club), Wah Lum Kung Fu, Gund Kwok Asian Women Lion Dance and Dragon Troupe, Hung Gar Kung Fu Academy also known as Yee's Southern Lions group, Wong Keung lion dance and dragon troupe, White Crane Woo Ching, Nam Pai Kung Fu, and the Wong Family Lion Dance Association. Plus the new appearance of Kwong Kow Chinese School as part of the Lunar New Year celebrations in Boston Chinatown. For those unfamiliar with animal cycles, 2022 the year of the Tiger is followed by 2023 for year of the rabbit as well as 2024 for year of the dragon 🐲🐉 in that order. Event on February 13, 2022
