So, brief diesel E400 interlude aside, back to the Scania action, and now for one in eastern suburbia, with a Stagecoach Scania slogging seamlessly southward, we have 15002 operating on route 365.
15002 was new in 2008 as the second of a swathe of Scania OmniCities bought by Macquarrie Bank for the uptake of Romford to Cranham route 248 from Blue Triangle. Like many of some of the 58-plate Scanias new for the 248, they have remained a firm stronhold in the Romford area with 15002 not operating from any other garage, and has even ran on routes 174, 252, 287 & 372, can't find any photo evidence of working the 165 or 256.
A newer route, the 365 runs from Havering Park to Orchard Village via Collier Row, Romford, Queen's Hospital, Abbs Cross, Elm Park & South Hornchurch. The route was introduced by Ensignbus in 1988 to replace the northern section fo the 165 as well as the loop around the Mardyke Estate, since renamed Orchard Village, and apparently going to be renamed Beam Park. The 365 has been in the hands of Stagecoach since 2013, taking over from First London, being one of the last, along with the 165, 179 & 252, First ran in the Capital before quiting the London market and closing Dagenham garage.
15002 is powered by a Euro 4 Scania DC9 engine coupled to a ZF Ecomat 5HP500 5-speed automatic gearbox, sadly some it might get drowned out unfortunatly by the loud cooling fan which occassionally makes its prescence known. Nevertheless, do enjoy!
