칠레 수영 선수, 태평양과 대서양 사이에서 수영으로 기네스 세계 기록 경신
A Chilean swimmer has set a Guinness World Record for swimming 5-thousand meters in the frigid waters of the Strait of Magellan, which connects the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.
On Wednesday, Barbara Hernandez, took up the challenge, accompanied by a naval vessel near Chile's southernmost point of Cape Horn and swam for 15 minutes and 3 seconds.
This is not her first extreme swimming accomplishment.
Nicknamed the "Ice Mermaid", Hernandez also swam 7 kilometers in 2 hours and 11 minutes in Chile's Lake Chungara, the world’s highest lake, at over 4-thousand-500 meters above sea level.
The 36-year-old was also the first woman to swim across the Beagle Channel, a strait shared by Chile and Argentina.
