No refugee or asylum seeker is allowed to participate in political activity in South Africa. This is according to the new immigration regulations gazetted by the Minister of Home Affairs, Aaron Motsoaledi. Under the legislation, the minister has the power to revoke the legal status of a refugee or asylum seeker deemed a threat to national security.
