Foreign Minister and Pakistan People’s Party leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari today called for an immediate end to the protests and advised Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party to not make things worse, reported local media.
Pakistan Supreme Court will hear a plea by Imran Khan against his arrest in the Al-Qadir case at 2 pm today. Meanwhile, mobile internet and social media sites were blocked in Pakistan for the third day in a row as protests continued today over ex-PM Imran Khan’s dramatic arrest.
At least 8 people were killed in the clashes so far, as per local media reports. Photos on social media showed charred the interior and the exterior of the national radio broadcaster Radio Pakistan’s Peshawar office, which was set on fire during the protests yesterday. In other news, Islamabad Police today said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party leaders like Asad Umar and Shah Mahmood Qureshi were arrested for “inciting violent protests.”
