Erotomania / Delusional Disorder
There are individuals who delusionally believe that they are romantically involved with a media personality with whom they have had limited or no previous contact.
This delusion is so pervasive, that the extent may include attempting various written, verbal, physical contact with the media personality, thus causing possible concerns about safety as well as distress to the celebrity.
These individuals are difficult to treat, as the delusion is so deeply rooted that challenging it subtly is ineffective.
