(27 Oct 2015) Cubans on Tuesday welcomed the United Nations General Assembly's overwhelming approval of a resolution condemning the US embargo against the island nation.
The Assembly voted 191-2 to condemn the commercial, economic and financial blockage.
Only Israel joined the United States in voting against the resolution.
Despite the US and Cuba restoring diplomatic relations in July, the decades old trade embargo against the island remains in place.
The UN vote has no practical effect on US policy since it is a non-binding resolution.
