The DaStaCo2 is a fully automatic calcium reactor for reef tanks from Aqua Marine Supply in Belgium designed to automate Calcium & Alkalinity dosing for reefs with lots of growing SPS coral. It is easier to tune and requires less fussing than a "normal" manual calcium reactor - and certainly it's easier than dosing kalkwasser. There's no CO2 bubbles to count or effluent drips to worry about - but it comes at a price. While not for everyone, anyone who is in the market for a fantastic reactor to use on a large reef system should at least consider the DaStaCo2 reactor line. In the United States you'll find DaStaCo for sale at Unique Corals - they might even have one to show off at a reef event near you!
This video goes over the setup, maintenance, water flow, and tuning of the reactor. I also show how I integrated my DaStaCo2 XtremA A-2 reactor with my PaxBellum ARID c30 algae reactor which increases the pH of the output by using the Chaetomorpha algae to absorb some of the left over CO2.
