The villagers of Sekalak, Indonesia have co-existed peacefully with the critically endangered Sumatran tiger for generations. According to the village legend, they are all descendants of this big cat.
But the landscape around the village is rapidly changing. Though there are an estimated 30 tigers living in the area, coal mines have been developing and creating roads deep into tiger territory. Tigers have been found and rescued in and around the mining sites.
