Inside the eye wall of Hurricane Michael as it made landfall in Panama City, Florida on October 10, 2018. Michael came ashore as a monster Category-5 storm, with sustained winds of 160mph and gusts over 175mph.
The eye itself passed a few miles east of my location in Panama City, on Mexico Beach.
The full force of the storm went on for an hour, maybe a bit more, as Michael snapped steel poles and forests in half, ripped many neighborhoods to pieces, blew over trains, RVs and semi-trailers, and left a path of destruction in its wake.
Footage featured in coverage on ABC & CBS shows & national / local news, USA Today, NY Times & The Weather Channel (among others).
