In the past several days the number of earthquakes underneath Mauna Loa's summit occurring due to shallow magma has once again increased. The number of daily earthquakes now once again average above 40. This has occurred alongside ground deformation, as Mauna Loa's summit has been uplifted by a measurable amount. It can thus be said that the chance of Mauna Loa erupting is potentially at its highest (counting the entire time from Mid August 2022 to the present) since its last eruption ended in 1984. If this volcano does, erupt, where would the lava flow? This video will answer this question and discuss the ongoing volcanic unrest.
