Long before she met former Governor Eddie Baza Calvo, Christine Calvo was one third of the girl group The Guam Sirenas with her sister Marilyn and cousin Corinne. While she was still in high school, the trio gifted the island with their many performances and went on to record 6 albums in the CHamoru language. A woman of many interests, she not only enjoys singing but also loves to watch, play and has even coached rugby - especially when her children are playing.
Her love of the island and sense of community translated to her dedicated service as Guam’s First Lady from 2011 to 2018. Today, well after leaving the Government House, she still serves the island community through her involvement with non-profit organizations such as her own Rigålu Foundation, the Guam Hospital Volunteers Association, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Guam Council of Women’s Club.
Saina is a thirty minute episodic series that collects and documents first-hand accounts of life histories from some of Guam’s most notable community leaders. Join us as we learn from intimate life lessons through the successes and failures that have helped shape their life’s path. Saina is produced in association with the Guam Council on the Arts and Humanities Agency.
