Saké is enjoyed at various temperatures. There are actually different names for 5 to 10 degrees each. And any saké can be enjoyed at any temperature.
However! Depending on the type of saké there are some recommended temperatures. Cold sake at 5~15℃ has less fragrance and is easier to drink, sake at room temperature 20~25℃ allows you to enjoy its true flavor, and hot sake at 30~55℃ conversely increases the fragrance. When you order saké, it’ll be best to ask the staff for the recommended temperature of the saké you’re going to order.
By the way, I personally love hot saké regardless of the season. If you are a person who thinks the fragrance of saké is strong you should have it cold, but I personally love the smell of saké so I’d instead want to strengthen it. I hope you can try different temperatures to find your preference.
If there’s anything else you’d like to know about Japanese saké, please let me know in the comments!
