The counting of votes has started in the Kannauj Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh. The high-profile constituency went to polls on May 13, 2024, and recorded a voter turnout of 61.08 percent. The Kannauj seat was long seen as a Samajwadi Party bastion until the BJP’s Subrat Pathak defeated Dimple Yadav in 2019 by less than 14,000 votes.
This time, the party has fielded former UP Chief Minister and SP president Akhilesh Yadav from the seat. He replaced his nephew Tej Pratap Yadav in a last-minute switch. The other candidates in the fray include Subrat Pathak of the BJP and Imran Bin Zafar of the Bahujan Samaj Party.
