TP-Link Tapo C520WS 2K IP Cameras

Earlier in the year I reviewed a trio of TP-Link Tapo IP cameras that I had bought to replace an ageing security system, the C210, C225 & C320WS. Now, with the recent release of a 2K external dome camera, I revisit the world of Tapo with the C520WS

Here I unbox the camera, fresh from Amazon, show the installation and the Tapo phone/tablet app, and give my thoughts on the new camera.

Update: I mention in the video about trying to get the camera to work by powering it through a BNC cable, but hadn’t gotten it to work. I’ve since tried again with a new Swann BNC cable and power adapter (12v) and the camera works fine. I’m only using the power cable and not the video cable, but it’s something to note that if you’re planning on replacing a traditional CCTV system with an IP camera such as the Tapo you might be able to use your existing wiring to power it up.
