In this video, you will find Lesson 1 of Alison’s 'Traditional Irish Bodhrán' Course (Beginner 1 Level).
Our bodhrán [pronounced bow-ron] courses are taught by an all-Ireland winner many times over and drummer with the well-known band Hermitage Green, Dermot Sheedy. In this opening video, Dermot introduces the first steps to learning to play the bodhrán, including identifying the parts, positioning the drum, holding the stick and the 'down' stroke. Over the course of 12 phenomenal bodhrán lessons, he takes the learner from the basics to a full bodhrán beat or 'motor rhythm'.
