Hey, everyone. Charles here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at the pewag all square snow tire chains with cam tighteners on a 2022 Toyota RAV4. This is your ladder style, snow tire chains. And while it doesn't give you as great of side to side traction, like your diamond pattern style, these are gonna be more effective at your starts and stops. And these being the square link style chain it's also gonna be really good at breaking through that ice.

They're gonna be made out of a nickel, manganese alloy steel. So they're gonna be very durable and they undergo a case hardening process that reinforces the construction, making it even extra durable. And it's also rust resistant. It's gonna come in this canvas style bag. It's not gonna last you forever.

It's gonna rip and tear easily but it is something to keep them secure in your vehicle. The installation process was fairly simple. The only problem was the limited clearance I have, but if you're a smaller person than me, then it will be even easier for you. So let's show you how to install them. To begin the installation, we are gonna lay our chains out flat making sure that there's no kinks in our links.

And one thing to note is that there's a hook side and a smoother side. We definitely want the hook side facing away from our tires. So I have it laid like this so that I can just pick it up from the middle and drape it over. Then I'm just gonna scoot the back chains as close to each other as possible. And I will meet you there for the first connections.

Okay, so with our RAV4 here, I don't have extra clearance to get my other arm through. So I have to do this with one hand. And so when you put these on, you're probably gonna be out on the snow. So it might be a good idea to get a couple practice runs when you are at home. Now, should be able to sit. There we go. And our tire size on this RAV4 is 235/55 R19. Now we're just gonna use our included tool and rotate this cam counterclockwise so it tightens up. Obviously this is an older tool that we had lying around. Optionally, you can pick up a rubber tensioner. That's just gonna add more tension to your chains. And you just wanna make sure that the hooks are face outwards. I like to go from top to bottom and then just work out the sides, spreading them out as even as possible. And that added some significant tension.
